MA—LAB, founded by Marga Altolaguirre, is a studio-laboratory of dramatic arts with over a decade of experience, located in Donostia-San Sebastián, in the Basque Country. More than just a creative space, MA—LAB is a living, breathing entity where the essence of artistic expression is continuously explored and redefined, embracing a multidisciplinary and avant-garde perspective.
For this project, the challenge was to capture the raw, dramatic essence of the school and translate it into a form that speaks through its simplicity. The design intentionally strips away excess, allowing the purity of the concept to emerge in its most essential and almost primal form.
It is a design that invites confrontation with dramatic contrasts, light and shadow, simplicity and depth, refinement and rawness, pushing the boundaries of what minimalism can convey in terms of emotion and narrative.
